<p>Did you know the last time we had an economic transition of this kind was in the 1920s?  So I ask the question…How can all these ‘business gurus’ out there keep saying they have “THE SOLUTION”.</p>
<p>HERE IS THE TRUTH:  We are all in this together.  Strategic business and marketing gurus are finding out what is working and what is not by trial and fire.  And if they are telling you they have ALL the answers….pardon my French, but I am going to have to call BS (<em>Baloney Sandwich</em>) on that one.</p>
<p>One of the quotes I LOVE is “Worrying is like a rocking chair, you expend a WHOLE Bunch of energy and you just don’t get anywhere.” For the sake of all small businesses out there, I want to put some of the economy stuff into perspective.</p>
<p>No matter your situation, it&#8217;s up to you if your &#8220;Personal Economy&#8221; has a recession. If you don&#8217;t want to have a recession, you just have to find people to <a href="http://www.articlesbase.com/self-help-articles/do-you-believe-in-the-recession-5-law-of-attraction-tips-699878.html" target="_blank">surround</a> yourself with who aren&#8217;t having one either.  <em>The next six to twelve months is going to be make it or break it for many small businesses. </em></p>
<p><em>Here is what you need to know: You have the opportunity today to come out of this recession THRIVING.  Especially if you are targeting people who are less effected by the conditions of the economy because they are spending money.</em></p>

<p>We know that affluent customers are extraordinarily loyal which brings a bevy of benefits including the fact that most are a pleasure to work with, it will decrease in your marketing costs and ultimate create higher profitability.</p>
<p>As a result of their innate loyalty, affluent clients have a substantially higher customer lifetime value.  Customer Lifetime Value is defined as the total value, in monetary terms, of your average customers spanning the entire period that these customers are likely to do business with you.<br />
It&#8217;s the potential contribution of your customers to your business over a period of time.</p>
<p>When acquired as customers, the affluent customer base could potentially lead to more profit for your business. In my many years in marketing, I&#8217;ve met many business owners who don&#8217;t understand what Customer Lifetime Value is, much less its importance and the impact it<br />
has on their bottom-line. To most of them, what matters most is to increase revenue by continuously acquiring new one-shot customers.</p>
<p>This is one of the fatal mistakes that many business owners make, but it is totally avoidable.  Consider this staggering statistic &#8211; it’ll cost you 7-10 times more to attract a new customer<br />
than it does to bring one of your past customers back to you.</p>
<p><strong>Where do you want to invest your marketing dollars?</strong></p>
<p>If you&#8217;re a smart business owner, you&#8217;ll understand that every penny you invest in marketing is most likely going towards acquiring new clients. You&#8217;ll also realize that once you&#8217;ve acquired the clients, you just can&#8217;t afford to let them go.</p>

<p>Unlocking a niche market seems to be the Achilles heel of many entrepreneurs.  These are professionals who are very talented, smart, and all around good people.  Yet, they are frustrated because no matter how good their service is they can’t seem to generate enough income and clients.</p>
<p><strong>Here is the truth:</strong></p>
<p>The affluent pay more for specialized information and services. Products that address specific problems, like client retention in a dental practice, sell easier and for more money than general products on managing your business.  Services that address specific issues are valued higher than general services like say, “coaching you to make your dreams come true”.  People know there is too much involved in that to really get at the heart of what they perceive their problem to be.</p>
<p>This is why having a niche makes all the difference in the world. It enables you and your marketing to set a target with ease and hit it every time.</p>
<p>There are all kinds of examples of this. For instance, a car mechanic who works on Ferrari&#8217;s will charge more than one who works on Fords.</p>
<p>I am sure you can come up with plenty of other examples.</p>
<p>Now obviously, when you narrow down your niche, your target market gets much smaller. However, your ability to charge higher prices generally will make up for that. In addition, it is usually easier to narrow down your marketing so you are only reaching the specific folks who are interested in your product or service.</p>
<p>That last point has become MUCH easier with the advent of the Internet. This presents an opportunity that has never before been seen in the information marketing world.</p>
<p>In addition to providing this opportunity, the Internet also makes your research on a niche a whole lot easier.</p>
<p>You can find your competitors and judge the size of your market in no time at all&#8230; certainly not more than a day, and once you get a little experience it is more like a couple of hours.</p>
<p>Once you do this you can create a client attraction system that delivers results every time. You can measure and test these results for even bigger and better results.</p>
<p>The rich are attracted to services that seem to be tailored just for them. When you create a service that targets a specific niche within the affluent market you set yourself up to be an expert that they will beg to know.</p>
